WHO WE ARE / WHAT WE DO
MSBC is a Washington DC based non-profit organization committed to supporting and promoting the health and social welfare and livelihood of the poor and vulnerable in Liberia. Challenged and inspired by a Liberian immigrant woman’s personal life experience and struggle as a survivor. MSBC strives to help women, children and men in or emerging from similar situations to rebuild their lives and communities. MSBC firmly believe that, given the adequate support and opportunity, women, Men and Children can overcome poverty and realize their full potential.
Despite improvements in Liberia, the health situation since the country emerged from brutal civil war and made history by electing its first woman President, the majority of Liberian still face tremendous challenges including the lack of access to basic necessities of life and limited opportunities for self-development. As a result, many of them remain vulnerable and stuck in the cycle of poverty, discrimination, abject need, HIV/AIDS and physical abuse among others. To change these inequalities, the poor and vulnerable Liberian’s need critical support, resources and opportunities for healthcare, education, food, empowerment and personal development. It is not only critical to support our citizens with their most immediate basic needs, but also that long term strategies and programs are developed to put them on a sustainable path for self-sufficiency.
MSBC is a uniquely designed initiative- initiated and led by an African woman. MSBC was formed in 2008 to devise strategies and mobilize resources to enable poor and vulnerable Liberians to transform their lives and their communities. We are strongly convinced that our investment in women, men and children will provide double dividends to make the world a better place for all. Strategies that seek to improve the lives of Liberian’s potentially go to the core of families and communities. ‘’
Our mission is to support, empower and enable poor and vulnerable Liberians and their communities to alleviate poverty and suffering and enabled them adequately meet their basic needs.
We envision a Liberia where Liberians can thrive and live in dignity with access to the basic necessities of life.
